Workshop English dances with Jo Freya & Dave Shepherd

This workshop consist of 2 independent parts (mini workshops). It is also possible to participate in only 1 part.

Programme

10:30 - 12:45     Danses traditionnelles du nord de l'Angleterre

13:45 - 16:00     Danses traditionnelles du sud de l’Angleterre

Dave and Jo present two dance workshops  based on Dave’s research into English traditional dance.

Firstly, a workshop introducing traditional dances from the north of England which will include longways dances, quadrilles, circle and set dances, many of which use percussive dance steps (see for example video 1 minute 1:30 - 3:20 (Morpeth Rant) and 5:35 - 7:35 (5th figure of Lancers Quadrille) and video 2, Kendal Ghyll).

Secondly, dances from southern England such as 3, 4, 5 and 6-Hand reels and Figure Eights, longways dances and circle dances (see for example Cornish 4-Hand Reel and Helston Furry Dance).
